AUT MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

The Beginning

The AUT Millennium Scholarship Programme was founded in 2005 to help support aspiring athletes from the facility’s four foundation clubs: Bays Athletics, North Shore Swimming, NorthSport Olympic Weightlifting and North Harbour Water Polo. Thirteen years after its introduction, the Scholarship has been awarded to more than 50 athletes every year, many going on to represent New Zealand at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships.

The Purpose

The AUT Millennium Scholarship Programme provides support and services to exceptional local track and field athletes, swimmers, weightlifters and water polo players. In addition to receiving a complimentary Gym membership, recipients have access to a High Performance Fund. The fund is awarded to athletes who require additional support to compete at top international competitions. As part of the programme, athletes have the opportunity to take part in charitable events, public speaking, work experience and professional networking where possible.

The Scholarship entitles recipients to:

  • Full AUT Millennium Health & Fitness Gym Membership (including 400m outdoor running track, Gym, PowerZone, Sports Hall and pool access)
  • Access to the AUT Millennium Scholarship Travel Fund
  • Information regarding employment opportunities when they arise at AUT Millennium
  • Access to AUT Millennium marketing and administration support
  • Discounted rates at HealthZone Medical and HealthZone Physiotherapy
