The National Aquatic Centre: Everything you need to know
Purchasing your membership
Purchasing a National Aquatic Centre Membership is simple. You can join online through the AUT Millennium website, or come in and fill out the paperwork in person.
We have two memberships available, 12 months or 6 months, and these are paid for in one lump sum. If you have disability access, are a senior, student or hold a community card, then you're also entitled to a discounted membership.
You will need to come in to the National Aquatic Centre to pick up your membership card after purchasing, then you're all set to jump in.
Making the most of your membership: The rules
It's important to us that everyone at the National Aquatic Centre has a great experience without being injured, inconvenienced, or irritated by other users. That's why we've established these rules.
When you agree to the Terms and Conditions of your membership, you also agree to follow our membership rules. If you break the rules, we have the right to terminate your membership.
Our key rules to remember:
- Do not carry out an illegal activities on the premises. If you do anything we consider to be illegal, offensive, or dangerous to you or another person, we reserve the right to ask you to leave the pool immediately. We may also cancel your membership.
- You must comply with our Health and Safety requirements, whether they affect your health and safety or others.
- No other person has authority to use your membership.
- Children under 10 must be actively supervised by a caregiver 17 years or over. Please ensure that you are able to provide immediate assistance if required.
- Children under 5 must have a caregiver in the pool with them at all times (2 children per caregiver).
- No eating or glass bottles on poolside.
- Please walk on poolside – no running!
- Diving into the main pool is permitted only. No bombing or flipping.
- Swimming lanes have been assigned specific speeds to ensure you get the most out of your swim. Please don't bring any sports balls in the pool whilst lane ropes are in place.
- Please ensure that you wear appropriate swimwear. No cotton clothing, underwear or workout gear. If you are unsure please speak to a Lifeguard.
- No changing on poolside, please use changing rooms.
Safety First
The National Aquatic Centre works hard to maintain a safe environment. But it is still your responsibility to use the facility safely.
You must declare any relevant medical conditions when you purchase your membership. If you're asked to consult a doctor before exercising or using any of our facilities, you agree to follow the advice or instruction given by the doctor.
If you or your child experiences an injury or illness in our facilities, any required medical treatment will be at your own expense and you agree that to the extent permitted by law, AUT Millennium will not be liable for any claims or expenses related to that treatment or subsequent treatments. Injury compensation in New Zealand is covered by the Accident Compensation Act 2001.
Patrons must follow staff instructions and refrain from behaviour that could cause injury, offence or harm to other patrons or property. Language or behaviour that may be considered indecent, obscene, disorderly or improper is prohibited.
The boring bits: Terms and Conditions
When you purchase a National Aquatic Centre Membership you sign a legally binding contract. The contract is between the applicant (“you” or “the member”) and AUT Millennium (“AUT Millennium”, “we”, or “us”).
Membership Period
You agree that you will join the National Aquatic Centre for the minimum period as specified in the Membership Agreement. A one-off payment is required up front for the period you have agreed and it is non-refundable. It is your responsibility to contact us if you need to place your membership on hold at any time.
National Aquatic Centre Entitlements
Your membership entitles you to make full use of the National Aquatic Centre and does not include access to the pool at the AUT Millennium facility. Any additional swimming lessons or swimming classes have additional cost. At time the National Aquatic Centre will be hosting events. During this time were will be no swimming available for the public and our “pool only” members and you will be given adequate notice of these events. Your membership is not transferable.
Termination of this agreement
By AUT Millennium:
AUT Millennium may, at its sole discretion, terminate this agreement and your entitlement to use our facility if you:
a) Fail to comply with our Code of Conduct Policy
b) Fail to make a payment to us when due
c) Assist and unauthorised person with entry to our facility
d) Fail to comply with any instruction from AUT Millennium Staff
By you:
After the end of the minimum period, you are not required to give notice to cancel as your membership will expire. You may receive a reminder abut renewal.
Personal Information
You authorise AUT Millennium to collect, retain and use personal information about you for the purpose of providing services to you, assessing your creditworthiness, for statistical analysis, enforcement of any legal or other rights that AUT Millennium may be entitles to and, for sending you any advertising or promotional material about AUT Millennium to enable us to communicate with you for any purpose.
You have the right under the Privacy Act 1993 to obtain access to and request correction any personal information concerning you, held by AUT Millennium.
Variation of Terms and Conditions
AUT Millennium reserves the right to vary these terms and conditions. Notice of any changes to these terms and conditions will take effect at least 14 days after the date of notice and notice will be given by email to the member's last known address and by general notices displayed at both the National Aquatic Centre and AUT Millennium Facility.
Taking a break: Temporary Suspension of Membership
We understand that there are times when you may not need or be able to use your membership, which is why we offer a membership suspension. You are entitled to suspend your membership for a period of 1-3 months for a fee of $10. We need to have notice of your suspension and a confirmation of it in written form.
Keeping in touch: Email communication and changing terms
AUT Millennium sends regular email updates to its members. These include important information about the facility, closures, public events and events that could disrupt attendance.
If you choose to opt out of email communications, you risk missing essential updated and AUT Millennium and the National Aquatic Centre is not responsible for any information you do not see or are unaware of. Emails are subject to the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.
Minor Membership: Signing up when you're under 18
If you're between 16-17 years of age you must have a parent or guardian sign the consent form before we can accept your membership.
Parent or Guardian
I am the parent or legal guardian of the person names in this agreement. I conform hat the person named in this agreement is between 16 and 17 years of age. I have read this agreement and consent to having the child enter into it.
