Craig has a PhD in youth athlete development and focuses on uncovering and sharing good ideas to fill the gap between what science knows and what we most often do. He leads a team of mighty coaches and researchers to create the best possible learning environments for young people to achieve their best.
AD Programme Manager & Lead Coach
Patrick is the Programme Manager for Athlete Development, overseeing the operations of the business. Patrick manages both the AUT Millennium and College Rifles academies, working with AD’s lead coaches to ensure that their respective programmes are operating smoothly.
Patrick also leads the Westlake Boys High School Rowing programme from a strength and conditioning perspective, as well as being involved with the school’s senior squad as an on-water coach. He is also Head Mens Coach at North Shore Rowing Club.
In his spare time, Patrick is an avid sports follower and guitar player. He’s always very keen to learn new skills and challenge himself with physical/fitness endeavours.
Matt leads our Mid Academy group, and works with Westlake Boys High School First XI hockey team.
Having completed his Bachelor of Sports and Recreation, majoring in Exercise Science at AUT, Matt is continuing his studies by working towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Exercise Science, also through AUT.
Outside of AD, Matt coaches swimming for the AUT Millennium Swim School, and when he has spare time you can find him on the golf course or in the gym.
Ferne Kewish is the Junior Academy lead coach. She leads the junior athletes on their physical and psychological development journey at AD and is passionate about giving athletes the best opportunities they can to grow. She is currently finishing her Bachelor of Sport and Recreation majoring in Sport and Exercise Science at AUT, and is planning on completing her postgrad studies.
Ferne grew up in a small village/town in the ‘middle of nowhere’ in the Waikato. From a young age she has been involved in many sports from football to volleyball to lacrosse. In her spare time, she enjoys pushing her physical boundaries outdoors, in the gym and on the sporting field.
Yash leads the College Rifles Academy and also runs a couple of our schools programmes, including the BEST programme at Baradene College and Green Bay High School’s JETTs programme.
Yash joined AD after completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Auckland, majoring in Sport and Exercise Science and Physiology. Outside of AD, he is especially keen on basketball and lacrosse, and coaches basketball at Mt Roskill Grammar School. Sport is a huge passion for Yash so when he is not coaching, it’s likely he’ll be out on the court/field himself.
Joel is the Assistant Coach for the College Rifles AD Academy, running the junior sessions. Joel has a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Auckland, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Exercise Science (AUT).
Outside of AD, Joel is a personal trainer at Snap Fitness Royal Oak, coaches the Auckland University Hockey Club Division 3 men’s team. In his free time, he likes to stay active with a lot of sports and personal fitness. Joel plays a lot of hockey and is currently training for his first marathon.
