What we do
Our Schools Programme is committed to giving the children of our community the opportunity to learn to swim through our Schools Programme. The main focus is to build their confidence and learn the skills to swim in order to keep them safer in the water.
Along with learn to swim to survive, we believe the development of motor skills and understanding about movement in the water is also a great way to get active, and endorse swimming as a great source of fitness in promoting healthier communities. These key aims are based on the Physical Education and Health curriculum objectives for New Zealand schools.
AUT Millennium Schools Learn to Swim programme operates all year round in a heated indoor pool and is run by experienced, qualified instructors. We cater for all levels of abilities, from students who have never swum before, through to advanced swimmers. We can also bring the programme to your own school pool.
Programme Structure
AUT Millennium Schools Programme will work in conjunction with your school to create a programme to suit your needs.
An initial assessment of swimming ability is done on the first lesson in order to group the children according to their individual abilities.
All students are evaluated and receive an achievement certificate at the end of the programme.
